Here are some answers to FAQs about the Honours program

    
Why choose the option of an honours degree?

•    to obtain a research experience at the undergraduate level.  
•    because you plan to go to graduate school.


What grades do you need to apply for entry into the honours program?

•    overall average of 70%.
•    overall 75% in Food & Nutrition courses.


What are the requirements for an honours degree?

•    126 semester hours of courses; 12 semester hours are honours research project.
•    additional FN elective at 300 or 400 level.
•    written proposal, progress report and thesis.
•    oral presentation and thesis defense.


When should you apply to the honours program?  

•    winter semester of third year of study.
•    may start research in the summer preceding your final year.


What should you do if you are interested in applying for the honours program?

•    check your grades to make sure you have the required average.
•    find a faculty member who is willing to guide you through the research process.
•    talk to students currently involved in the honours program.
•    submit a letter of application to Department Chair by March 31, 2012.
