Crystal MacGregor, BSc, RD
BSc. Foods & Nutrition/ UPEI Integrated Dietetic Internship Program Graduate
Class of 2002
Current employer: Epicure Selections/Victorian Epicure Inc.
Title: Nutrition & Culinary Manager
My journey after graduation from the UPEI Dietetic program has been both rewarding and fruitful. I had amazing opportunities to work in many areas of dietetics, diversifying my skills and knowledge in community, sports and clinical nutrition. At present I work for an amazing Direct Selling Company called Epicure Selections. It is a family owned, woman-led Canadian company that not only manufactures food and cookware products but also offers an incredible business opportunity for women and men nationwide. I have the privilege and the honour to lead a dynamic team of professional chefs, food scientists and food stylists. Together we help create incredible, better-for-you products, chef must-have cookware and assist in marketing’s various initiatives which range from videos and magazines to weekly meal plans. I am so grateful for all that I have learned in my undergrad and internship through UPEI. I value the friendships that were made, the invaluable expertise of the faculty and opportunities to learn and grow both professionally and personally. It was at UPEI where my interest in helping nourish a nation peaked and now I have a career that can fuel my passion. Lessons learned from both my educational and work experiences has taught me to be flexible, adapt, lead and take a proactive approach in creating my future.
Rachel (MacDougall) Ogilvie, BSc.
Bachelor of Science in Family Science
Class of 2007
Current employer: Dr. Janice Keefe
Title: Graduate Research Assistant
In 2004, I returned to the University of Prince Edward Island to finish my degree after a four year hiatus in my education. The superior mentorship I received from the professors in the Department of Family and Nutritional Science, particularly Dr. Lori Weeks, laid the foundation for what has become exciting and gratifying employment in applied gerontological research. I currently work as a Graduate Research Assistant at Mount Saint Vincent University with Dr. Janice Keefe, while pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Family Studies and Gerontology, with a focus in Gerontology. My time on the Family and Nutritional Sciences Society (FANSS) prepared me to serve as Graduate Student Representative within my own Department and on the Board of Directors for the Gerontology Association of Nova Scotia. I am a proud alumnus of U.P.E.I. and would highly recommend a Bachelor of Science in Family Science to any person who wants to work in a field where they will be interacting with a diverse range of individuals.
